General Testing / QA | Re: iOS 8 Developer menu

Initially when I saw this post I thought there was a new menu I didn't know about. The developer menu is mentioned if you use Xcode.

Typically I would not use anything in developer mode because it may behave differently from a device that isn't in developer mode. I don't really know all the code changes that happen on the iPhone in developer mode so can't really say in this case. Here is how you can enable it.

1. Make a backup of your current settings so you can easily get rid of developer mode (in iTunes).
2. Install and launch Xcode.
3. Attach your iPhone
3. Under the window menu select organizer if you weren't automatically redirected to it.
4. Click on your device on the left hand side of the screen.
5. Click the <use for development> button displayed on the screen (by the way this is a good spot to get your phone UDID identifier in an area that can be easily cut and pasted)
6. The developer menu will now be enabled.

Load & Performance | Re: Load testing -to see the interacation on the web applica

I would want to know why do you want to do that? Load testing tools are not designed for what you are asking. Closest to this is to capture snapshots in Loadrunner during test, you be only able to see them after test is finished but then it is going to take a lot of disk space. Another thing you can do is to open one browser and do your test cases manually while your load test is running. But going back to my first sentence if you can tell why do you want to do what you are asking, I or someone else can be in a better position to answer it.

General Testing / QA | Re: Thoughts about about virtual machines and emulators

I have found that Virtual Machines tend to not only be slow, but go down a lot. Perhaps it was just the configuration being used at the last two jobsites, but the developers configuring the VM for test could not keep them running for more than a few hours and we couldn't use real machines because no one wanted to pay for them and the dev's swore up and down that everything was fine. I prefer having the actual machine, even if QA has to share machines it seems to work so much better.

Emulators... don't get me started! I have done testing on them for one project and it was a disaster. No two emulators could be set up the same, the bugs could not be repro'd by other testers or Dev's and when you chose a specific device, it didn't even look like the device and had missing functionality. It's a good tool for developers in early stages of development, but you need the real device for quality testing and develpment.

Hi,

Experience: 6 years
Selenium: 3.5 years
Scripting with: Junit, TestNG,
Framework: UAT, Functional, Hybrid
Language: Java

I have started with Junit. Later I found TestNG is better than Junit. My expectation was high as I wanted to implement script such a way so any non-technical person can execute it.
So I have removed TestNG and integrated my script with Swing UI.
I prepared executable .jar file which can be installed any where and user just need to start it and need to fill required parameter on the provided UI of the Swing. Parameters like:
1. URL
2. Port
3. Path of data(Excel) from where required data gets fetched for testing and executing the script
4. List of checkbox to select required testcase
5. Path to store output in excel with proper presentation of all detail result of each testcase

Waiting for your positive reply.
Samip

A bit off topic:The thing that irritates me the most are these 4Chan posts saying that iOS 8 now allows you to charge your iPhone through microwaves and when iOS 7 came out I think it was waterproofing abilities.

A lot of not so tech savvy people pay good money only to be fooled by these pranks Image
